The Anointing Oil in the New Testament

1. Believers in Jesus Christ are now priests and kings:

• “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
• “And He has made us kings and priests to His God and Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:6)
• “And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:10)

2. We are now the temple of God:

• “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

3. The anointing oil was used for healing and deliverance:

• “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14)
• “They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.” (Mark 6:13)
